Delavic are Stainless. Kerker is ridiculous money. They sold rights to the "Samson" Harley pipe people.
Vance & Hines street pipe! Best for the money!
Be real, performance? Unless your making road course laps being timed, counting 100/ths of seconds.
Buy a V/H street pipe. But (tangent) if they are made now in Mexico like the side winder drag pipe. Quality might be an issue. The older ones were very nice, fit and quality of the chrome.
Don't know anything current. Have not had or bought one in the last 10 yrs.

I have the V/H street version. It was a choice between this or the competition. The other you had to loose the center stand and it would get in the way of the oil filter change. I bought three baffles. Street, mild race and competition. The street sounded good, the mild race, much better and the full blown Er almost no baffle was too loud and the top end disappeared. I stayed with #2. Jetting was a trial but when dialed in correctly, I get great power throughout the RPM range. I have 33 mm Mics so this was the right direction for me. Just to see what would happen I put in the street baffle and crap, it's like i shoved a potato up there. If I get a ticket, I'll have to go through the jetting again. I don't think so, the Cops seem to like it too and Bossie turns heads wherever we go. The HD riders don't like her though. Now I remember why I never wanted a Hog.They cost me $450 and I bought them in the 90's. Chrome still good and solid as a rock.

Sancuary uses the coolest pipe ever made on most of their bikes. I think you need a Japan hook up to get one.

I have a Motogpwerks on my KZ900, I think it's the 2nd runner up. Stainless Steel and around $500

'Best' is subjective, a 4-1 is really a rpm power tune, 4 - 2 - 1 is probably the optinum but the linked 4-2 stock pipes are best for bottom and midrange. I think the original z1 4-4 was as much a styling thing.

I have a couple of vintage kerkers but they are very hard to come by. particularly in the UK.

Unless you are going for the Kerker megaphone or hand-bent Yoshimura period bling $$$, I'd go for a stainless steel exhaust, you could even get a one-off made as a copy. I did that myself and did some calculations to 'tune' the pipe to the motor - it sounds great and works very nicely.

An engineer I spoke to who is in the exhuast business did some R&D consultancy for Honda many years ago, he told me that unless running a highly tuned motor with a long duration cam the dimensions aren't too critical.
