I guess I should have posted the "after" photo of the frame as it is now. Might still take some more material off there, but the idea is to take some 'bar-end' type turn signals and wire them into the tubular part of the subframe. LED of course, as the tail light will also be.

The seat brace is cut out so just waiting for some time to get some foam and cover it.

Here's the bike as it sits

The stock exhaust stays on for now until I get the jetting dialed in, then swapping jets for the 4-1 system will be easy.

how tall are you? once you add the foam to that seat you will be right up on the gas tank with no wiggle room. Maybe move it back 1-2 inches? try sitting there. also what are your plans for the shocks?

I'm 5'10" on a tall day AHAH. I sat on it many times trust me, I have a couple inches extra to move around on the seat. Probably wouldn't work for most guys, although the rear pair of bolts on the battery mount may work to give that little extra space if you needed it. I want this bike as minimalist as possible. No extras allowed! I will probably do a layer of gel pad and a single layer of foam to keep the seat short and not looking like a puffy pillow. This wont be a seat for 100+ miles cruises.

For the shocks I will either refinish these, or spring for a set of Ohlins shocks. I've only put a few miles on these but they feel VERY stiff.

I do have another dilemma however...if I do a linkage rearset setup, the kick stand folds up right where the shifter would be on your toe. Might have to cut off that mount and move the whole thing forward 3-4 inches.

Bleh.

if you think the stock shocks are stiff ohlins are gonna break your balls, and they are completely overkill unless you address the front end suspension as well.

What other options look good? My springs are rusted and the chrome caps are dented from lay downs. They're in rough shape.

Also I got my new jets in.

17.5 pilot makes my choke lever useless! Bike just wants to start and run no choke, maybe 1/4 on the lever just for the start then it wants choke off.

With the 105 mains it seems to be pulling better, but I might go bigger to see if it continues to help. I have a set of 107.5's as well.

Bike just seems to have half the power and response that I see on helmet cam videos.

Idle take a second to come down and will hang unless you blip the throttle, the. It returns to idle....might just have to spring for new carb holders :(

When my idle was hanging I found that my timing advance mechanism needed cleaning and lube. It ran soooo much better after that.

Is that behind the small cover on the right hand side? Mine is an aftermarket cover, not sure what happened to the original. Probably something wonky in there. Ill take a peek thank you for the recommendation!

Yes, the points are behind the cover shown below. Ed

Well you were right. I can see the timing advance mechanism behind the points plate and the high/sticking idle is directly related to that. Seems it spins out real easy and doesn't want to come back down...

Is this a common problem? Springs worn out or something?
