Got the starter clutch replaced. (thanks Roy)
Got my wiring like I want it (no front turn signals, clutch safety switch, hazards. Made a cool under tail and battery box out of aluminum, and striped down my frame and painted it. Next is to paint the engine and put it all together.

That's a start. I don't think the "J" engine will fit in the Kz frame. Roy

I bought a bike last year that had a Kz motor in a "J"1 frame. The guy said he rode it. The engine was just sitting in there with two bolts holding it.

Welders are nice to have.

Just make sure the sprockets are lined up before you "nail it". Roy

I have the motor out but cleaning this thing is a bitch is there any easy way without a pressure washer or a steam washer?

I have tried everything under the sun to clean my engine. If yours is as bad as mine was (mine was a 650 tho) nothing will make it like new again except blasting it....soda-blasting (bakingsoda) is what i went with as its not abrasive at all. well worth the $80 or so i paid to have all parts blasted. that was after i spent that much on failed cleaning products/brushes/pads. good luck. patrick

finally after 4 days of work I got the engine clean enough to paint

I ended up with degreaser and a scotchbrite pad scrubbing forever but it was worth it
