The reason for my post was only to comment that the design of the German grommets is better than the original, giving the whole more firmness.

I drilled/cotter pin my Z1 panels.  You only need one.  No gambling, dont care where the grommets come from.

I drilled/cotter pin my Z1 panels.  You only need one.  No gambling, dont care where the grommets come from.  

 

Was working on my KZ750 today. This is how I secure my panels without compromising the integrity of the "pin."

Why is it that every thread you post in requires moderation?
These guys know their shit why can't you just accept that? Your fix with the knotted wire will only prevent the side cover pin from fully inserting in the grommet and will likely result in the side cover falling off, flopping around in the breeze on your wire and possibly cause a crash when you look down to see WTF is going on.
