Nice mod! I have to agree with you about keeping the original fender pristine. I plan on recreating some pieces on my bike so I can "play" with them without hurting the original pieces.

Very nice! I like the rear tire out there in the air a little...that's why Mine is, too. I shortened my front one this weekend for the same reason..Makes the bike look more compact...sportier.

Nice work. It does look much better without.
Funny thing is, I'm looking to go the opposite way, putting a fender back on. I had removed mine in the '80s, as I liked the look. Now I have Shoei Saddlebags on, so I'm looking to put the fender back on. I wish I had kept it over the years, and the one from my '79 was mangled. I have seen them for sale, bur I've spent too much $$$ over the last year, so it will have to wait.

Well done! Highest marks! That really cleans up the back end, and makes a way better look (IMHO). Must confess...I didnt think of fiberglass when I made my fender eliminator out of thin sheet metal.....good thinking!
