When I worked at a bicycle shop back in the 80's, Aquanet was the first choice in grip adhesive.

I miss-understood your original post.

Here is some text from a website dealing with a Mitsubishi car brake resevior mod

"No parts store will sell brake hose by the foot, not that we could find anywa."

Which sort of answers that question. But it goes on to say.....

"....so go to a hardware store and get some air hose. The air hose you want is red-orange on the outside and black on the inside. Many kinds of rubber won't withstand brake fluid, which is why it's important to not use any old hose, but this stuff is up to the challenge."

I don't actually know if that is true, or if you can get the stuff in metric sizes (I would guess yes). You can buy it by the foot. Just some food for thought.

9am... Not sure up there in the North but out here (AZ), our local auto part stores such as Checker sell oil/gas/brake line by the foot and it's only $1-2...

For that short of a run, hell they'd probably give it to you for free if you where buying something else you needed, such as oil, plugs, cleaning/paint supplies etc...

What about this, since you're upgrading to a different brake system, anyway to cut a piece of the old kz brake lines, preferable mid section area?

Just a thought big guy....

I tried that and cut my brake lines that I replaced to see the size of the hole and it's about 1 or 2 millimeters in diameter, so way too small. One thing I am thinking is going to the boneyeard and stealing that bit of hose that connects the rear fluid reservoir to the mc on some old bike...

I had a similar problem last summer. i had the stock hose, but it was toooo short to mount the reservoir behind the side cover.after a few wasted trips to the auto store , i ended up with a piece of steel fuel line. i cut the ruber brake hose in 2, and spliced the steel fuel line into the middle .
i like the idea of the air line, hopefully it has the right I.D. u could wrap it with electrical tape if u dont like the color.

I think the clear hose would look great, and I could spare a couple incehs of my new fuel line, but I don't want to die either.

What it looks like I am going to do is find some braided SS PTFE tube from eBay for this hose, that way it will match my new brake lines and look much better than a black hose from kawi

1 other option may be to use dot 5 silicone brake fluid. it does not harm paint so should be easier on hoses. i have always used dot 5. it is not hydroscopic, so it lasts longer.B)

I think I will stick with good ole DOT3...my only issue with getting the larger diameter brake hose will be shipping to canada unfortunately...

maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

I just counted 13 states that are further north than where I am at...no dog teams here!

Shipping to canada is always 3 or 4 times what you guys pay, so often times shipping is more than the cost of the item.

By the way, stick with dot 3 or 4. It is designed to absorb water. That way the water is dissipated through the system. You don't want the water to collect in the low points and boil.
