If it has the older style key, you should be able to open it with just about any other two-sided key.
Kawi didn't think to much about security where the fuel cap lock is concerned back in the 70's. :whistle:

I believe Kawi started using "real" keys for their fuel cap locks right about '80/'81.
A good locksmith should be able to pick that lock and make a new key for it for about $30-$45.
I was quoted $30 at a locksmith near me for the tank cap lock on my '84 ZN. Turns out it wasn't locked afterall, just "glued" stuck because the PO left fuel in it that had now turned to varnish. :ohmy:

My 1981 wasnt keyed, I open it with a Yamaha Key.
NO TUMBLERS or sliders.
I'm willing to bet you probably could have even used a twig or anything narrow and strong enough to turn it.
That wouldn't be a lock then, silly.
It would be a simple latch actuated by turning it inside the fuel cap.
