factory paint color was created by mstuck
I'm looking for the candy green color found on the 73 z1. I can't have a shop match because I don't have any pieces painted this color. Any info would help on how to get any of the factory colors from 73-76.
thanks Michael

If I were restoring an early Z1 (late 1972 or 1973) I would know that there were two different shades of the green applied and would want to use the correct one to maintain the value of my restoration. I would check in with the fellas on the Worldwide Z1/Z900 Worldwide Owners Community in MSN Groups. There are dedicated Z1 restorers there that can help with this question and answer other restoration questions with authority. It is a bit of a chore to sign up for MSN Groups but in this case might be worth it. I am a member there. If you need a direct link, drop me a note...

Near as I can find, the '73 Z1 came in two color schemes:
Candy Green and Yellow, and Candy Brown and Orange.
On the green bike, the yellow color covered almost the whole side of the gas tank, and the green was on the top.
The side panels were all green with no striping, and the tail piece was green with a large yellow stripe. Marsden's book, Original Kawasaki Z1, gives some nice examples of the original color... at least for bikes sold in the UK.
