I've never seen the kit, where did you find it. Heated gloves may be simpler.

here the kit is at canadian tire that i saw, it is simple enough, you run power to it and the resistance in the loop heats it up, it wraps around the bars under the grip, its pretty cold here at times, especially at high speed, i work with a guy who rides a harley and he goes on epic rides every weekend, he has a plug in for his electric vest, a heated seat and bars..... no HE is a pussy, but a warm pussy and usually a warm one is a good one(sorry steell you may want to edit that out!)

It's the Canadian Tire kit for snowmobiles for about $30.00. I have one. I haven't installed it. Since then a fine colleague donated an electric vest and gloves. Another colleagus rides his 650Vstrom with heated grips and complains of icy knuckles. As soon as I sort out the wiring, I'm thinking the gloves will be a better solution. The vest is incredible, by the way.

i have a cheap kit on my BMW, and no you are not a sissy for wanting them. i think if you use them once a year you will thank your stars that you have them.
i bought a cheap snowmobile kit off from ebay, think it was 25 dollars or so. it had little bulbs (look like co2 cartridge) you slide into the end of the handle bars wrap in insulaton. wire it up, 2 position switch hot and G-D hot!!
if you can get a cheap reliable kit, i ithink they are well worth it.

Why would anybody think having a set of toasty mits would anything but a good idea?
The only issue I can see is that along about the time I think I'd need a set, I'd be more concerned with things like tire adhesion/road surface/debris collection. We've already had one guy (Shoe48) taken down by leaves in his path.
Other than that - staying warm is *never* a bad idea...

thanks for all of the replies. The kit I was going to get in my crappy tire says its a motorcycle kit, but I suspect that you guys are correct that it is good for snow mobiles etc, it looks pretty cheap. I was thinking of mounting a toggle under the tank somewhere and hiding the wiring inside the bars, i hate extra wires hanging all over the place.
also, I see from the kink ab0ove that one draws 3 amps, has anyone noticed a dull headlight with throwing that much current to your handlebars?

Heated bars/grips never made sense to me. You have gloves on which prevent you from getting the most of the heat transfer from the bar/grip not to mention the wind going by is heat sinking off as much of the heat as possible.
I'd go with heated gloves and see how that feels.
