Pardon my naivete, but why do you need bushings for struts? I would understand having bushings on something that moved, but don't you want to lock it down so there's no movement? Or do you just need a spacer to fill an over-drilled hole?

the holes were drilled about 3/4inch wide, so would finding a metal spacer work or should I just toss em?

Make some new ones? They can be made with hand tools, but would be a lot easier with a electric drill.
