kz650 forks on a kz1000. will it work was created by Mr.T
hi everyone. need a little help.,i've got a 77 kz1000 with a single disk/calipar in front. and want to change to duel disc/calipar in back setup. i have all the parts i need to do this off of a 78 kz650. other than the top tubes are 1" shorter.(witch is o.k.i want the bike lower.)is there any reason i cant use these. everything seems to be a match other than maybe the spring rate. is there a differance in springs ????also with a complete fork rebuild.,how much fork oil are you guys using and what weight. thanks for any help you can offer. Mr.T

Mr. T:
If the fork tubes are the same diameter, then they should clamp just fine...be advised that the front fender will be closer to the headers than stock. Oil should be 15W (183 - 191 ml's/per fork tube).

Welcome Mr.T.
When changing the fork oil on a 650, you'll need 165cc (5.6oz.) of fork oil. When the forks have been disassembled and are completely dry, 186~194cc. 190cc is 6.4 oz.
The oil level measured from the top of the open tube is 393mm for a B2 and 396mm for C and D models.
