I've spent a lot of time staring at the jumble of parts that was (and hopefully will be again) my kz1000A2. The rims are a little chewed up from neglect, minor accidents, and probably less than expert tire changes. Would it be reasonable to change just the rim (leave the axle, hub etc stock). I know this would require re-lacing the wheel, but then I'd have nice new stainless spokes too.
I found this link: www.buchananspokes.com/Akront.htm
They have an 18" rim that's 3.5" Just a little wider than stock.
Or is this just asking for trouble?

Man that is a good question. I would like to go wider as well with my kz1000C3. It was a stock cop cycle in March when I got it. Now its a bobber and I find something to change almost everyday. I have completely neglected my HD over it. I am in the thought of putting a larger tire in the back. It was standard 18s front and back, now a 16 on back and a 19 front. I need spacer help for the front. If you find a way to use the hub post it please.

I'm going through the same thing right now. I just got a 18 in with a 5 in rim. I'm going to have Les build me a swingarm for it. It will only be used at the drags but it should work out.
