OK, what started the conversation with my buddy about converting his kz1000p to shaft was a kz750 Spectre wheel that's sitting in the back of my garage. So, I'm sitting here on my toolbox working on my GPz's front forks, and I wonder...
My wife's complaint about my GPz is that it's so darn tall, saddlewise. As I get older (and shorter!) I'm thinking I agree with her. So, a 130/90-16 would lower the bike about an inch compared to the 120/90-18 that's on there now. And I need a new rear tire anyway, along with a new chain, so if I change the rear sprocket to a 37 from a 41, my gearing would be the same, so the only question is, can I use a wheel that came off of a shaft drive on my chain drive? If not, which bikes had a 16" cast rear with disk and chain?

PREVIOUS KZs: 1980 KZ750H with 108,000 miles; 1980 KZ750E with 28,000 miles; and KZ750H street/cafe project, all sold a few years back.
This is what I do for fun, not for work. It is art, with a little engineering thrown in.

The 1980-83 KZ750H [LTD] all have a 16" chain drive disc brake rear wheel. They show up on ebay all the time. I think the shaft drive wheels are different.

Take a look at the diameters listed for the various tires on the tire manufacturers websites, there is usually only ~3/8" difference in diameter between a 120/90/18 and a 130/90/16
I wanted my bike to sit taller and was thinking about going to an 18" rear wheel instead of the 16" that was on it, after doing some research I discovered that would have been a waste of time and money.
