Front Chain Spocket

I was riding my 1977 kz1000a yesterday and was hearing a noise from the chain at least that is what I thought and so I took off the case around my sprokey and found my nut came lose. So I got my manual out and thier is no lock washer to keep the nut from coming lose and the book show no lock washer either. Is this true????

You should have a washer with a small tang that fits into a hole in the sprocket, tighten up the nut then you use a chisel to bend up the edge of this washer against one of the flat sides on the nut.

Kawasaki used the lockwasher like in the previous reply. Trouble is half the crappy replacement sprockets have no hole for the washer to fit into so they get tossed. If this is the case you can just use locktite threadlock. Preferably blue, which can be removed later without much effort.
