1979 mkII headlamp and front turn signal was created by jsignaigo91
Im in the slow process of restoring a 1979 mkII. Im trying to get as close to factory everything as I can. Im getting the mkII kit for main wire harness and I need the turn signals in the correct places. The bike that I have came with no turn signals im trying to find if the front turn signals are attached to the headlamp bracket or do the mkII have them installed on the forks somehow? Any help is appreciated.

I keep finding picuters like that but its tough to see if it really is with the headlamp bracket or not. I have what I believe to be the original headlamp bracket and assembly and I dont have any mounting points for the turn signals on it.

I think this one clearly shows the blinker shaft is also the headlamp mount

See #19 on the attached parts diagram.  The turn signal stalk passes through the headlamp ear, BEHIND the bolt that holds the bucket into place.  That is evident by the diamond shape cut out on the part depicted in the diagram.  That cut out is for the rubber mounting grommet for the turn signal.

Bob that is really interesting, the red bike I posted appears to be as you show but the grey one is through the headlamp mounts and the OP says there is no facility in the ears he has ?????? Maybe different model years or markets ?

The one I pictured is a stock 1979 MKII.  The grey one you posted appears to have Z1R side panels(?)  But with a MKII style tank and tail section.  Or is it an ST? (which uses same style as the MKII  I wasn't able to tell.  I do know that the fork-headlamp ears are interchangeable amongst several KZs with 36mm fork tubes which leads to many "Bitsa-bikes"  Put together with a bit of this model and a bit of that model..

There appears to be several different ways these headlight/signal ears were used/created.

There are ears that cover the fork tubes and have either one connection point for both headlight and signal or had 2 connection points one for the headlight and a second one for the signals

Then there were ears that did not cover the fork tubes, rather they connect to the triple trees and  were more wire like with ears that again had one connection  point for the headlight, some of these had the signals attached to handlebars, and some  2 connection points, one for the headlight and one for the signals.
