Frame Dimensions for Powder Coating Oven was created by Inspidship
Howdy all, a bit of an odd question that I did not come across on my adventures throughout the forums. I am working on the idea of powder coating my frame for my 80 kz550 but I'm not sure if it'll fit in the oven I have access to. If anyone could provide a rough measurement, L, W, H of the frame so I could confirm that would be awesome! Thanks in advance and wishing everyone a fantastic Wednesday.

Just a silly thought here but wouldn’t it be best to measure the frame your have and intend to coat.

Yes, yes it would! I should have stated in the original post that I'm out at university at the moment and don't have access to the bike to do any measurements on, else I certainly would. The uni offers free powder coating for students and figured i'd see if it was worth the trip home to pick it up to tear down and powder coat. Appreciate it!

That could be a good deal. Keep in mind just about any powder coat company can coat that frame for around $150. Travel expenses need to factor in. Sorry I can help with the dimensions

I'm more in it for the experience at the moment, I enjoy the work probably too much, although I dream of the day its finished. I didnt know it was that cheap however, so if this doesnt work out that could be an option. No worries man, I appreciate the responses none the less!

Recently went thru this myself and here’s what I came up with. An investment in powder coating to any degree of quality is a sizable expense. Unless you plan to parlay it into a business, which I’m not, it’s prohibitive. Like 10K prohibitive and then you need the place to do it. The. factor in a learning curve.
I don’t know what fuel increases have done to the powder coat scene but it likely has impacted it like most everything else. Figure more like 400 if you want other bits and pieces done to be on the safe side with a buffer.
Sorry, disregard please. I missed some pertinent info. My bad.

I'm heading down tomorrow with a tape to check. Its large enough to make me think it may fit, but not so large that its a for sure thing lol! Ill respond with some measurements as soon as i get my peekers on the tape measure. Thanks!

Things must be more in your neighborhood. I just dropped of everything but the frame and swing arm and the cost was $80. I’m sure frame and swing arm will be about $200Recently went thru this myself and here’s what I came up with. An investment in powder coating to any degree of quality is a sizable expense. The place I have been looking at are £160 for frame or £300 for frame/swingarm + 15 small items

Sorry for the delay folks, schooling hit hard this week. I have the dimensions below of the oven all in inches
22 deep
21.25 wide
59 tall
If anyone has any ideas if this'll work that would be great, otherwise ill be grabbing the old girl in a week or two for a full teardown. Thanks!

59" tall is good, but the other two dimensions are too small.
