FWIW, I didn't find any "bolt-on" 530 front sprocket so, I got cut some laser stainless steel shims and bought JT front & rear sprocket (JT rear is a direct fit). Lot of choices in number of teeth for both units!

That's odd, I even found bolt on JT sprockets for a 520 conversion. On JT sprockets site they have the dimensions of the sprockets there as well, I just matched the dimensions of the sprockets , I can't remember exactly but I think the front was for a later model ZZR 600 and the rear was easy as there's no offset, I think there was even a Suzuki sprocket, GSXR maybe,  that also would have worked..  Took a little bit of searching but it was by no means difficult. I'm sure there's off the shelf 530's to suit. Anyway, glad you got it sorted..
For a KZ750 (at least for the KZ750L3 I had), there's a direct JT fix for the front but not for a KZ1000. I e-mailed JT sprockets and they told me so as well as the "recipe" to fit a front JT unit on my Js.

Ahh, I have a 750 so that adds up..!   Still I find it strange that someone didn't have a sprocket, did you try Webike, there are a number of sprocket manufacturers that sell on that site, lots of different offsets too. ?

Found one, there are more..

Yeah, I’ve seen webike. But the JT sprocket I found can be ordered at any dealer (no shipping cost) for half the amount. The shims I had been fabricated also did not cost a lot.
In fact, with those shims, I simply can use front & rear sprockets for a 2001-2005 ZX-12R.
I, for sure, will consider webike for any other parts I’min need of.

EDIT
I found a few sources for 1000J sprockets but they all were 630 size. I was looking for 530 parts and only webike have a direct fit unit. Z1enterprises used to have some but they are discontinued at their supplier.

Hello, I know this is an old thread, but just in case. I have installed a new 530 chain in my “76 Kz900A4. Gone to a rear 42 tooth sprocket and an 18 front. 112 link chain. All in order, except for the fact that my new front sprocket does not have the little hole to hold the safety washer, so I believe I have to go to a “serrated” washer that holds to the spline and I can bed.my question is what is that washer? How can I get it? What is the part number? Will any Kawasaki sprocket washer work?

"Will any Kawasaki sprocket washer work?"

Not sure . Maybe
check parts diagrams at partzilla for your output shaft. Then see what other models have same. Partzilla seems to show a splined shaft but the washer with tab only

z1enterprises.com search "lock tab" shows a washer similar to the one you pictured and says it fits kz650 750 and 1000 models .
you may also want to remove the sprocket and count the number of splines on your output shaft and verify that a splined washer will fit over it.

Am I over simplifying things or can you not just drill the required hole in the new sprocket ?

Hardened steel.

Possible but not easy. Personally I would not have the right equipment.

I see you've never tried to drill a hole in a countershaft sprocket. They are harder that a whore's heart!

I don't think the spline pattern is the same on all models, so you can't necessarily use any old splined washer.
From the diagrams at Partzilla the 1976 KZ900-A4 has the same Fr sprocket as the 1980 KZ1000-G1 Classic.
The G1 has a splined washer which should then fit your motorcycle. Kawasaki P/N 92200-1065.
Partzilla has a pic, so it should be available & it was used on a bunch of models.
If they use the same Fr sprocket, then I assume the output shaft pattern should be the same.
I tried searching by output shaft, but all of the models I saw had the tabbed washer.

www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/92200...51057ea3ace501f933c7   same part as Mikaw linked. hee.

ps: after tightening the sprocket nut, bend over one side of the splined washer against the nut.

Thank you all for the replies. Wookie... I tried drilling the sprocket, but it´s impossible. No way.

2 different things:

1.- There is no room, after the sprocket is in, to use one of those "castellated washers", so I recurred to using the original washer, and then holding it with two bolts in the current sprocket. I ended cutting the head out of the allen bolts, as the cover would interfere with them. Just the stem of the bolts is enough to keep the sprocket (and the washer) from turning.
2.- I had to replace the "rubber" sprocket for a regular one. The cover would not fit with it in there.

Unfortunaltely, I don´t have a pic of the finished product.

Thanks again for the help!
