Can you explain the sprocket offset to me .how far can you go? what problems do you enconter ? is this an off the shelf item?were?how much?:silly:

Offset sprockets are fairly common, esp. among the drag race crowd. Sprockets are commonly available from 3/8", 5/8", and 3". The first two will work fine on streetbikes, but the 3" is best left to dragbikes. You can use the 5/8" offset on a 900/1000 without modifying the frame. The chain does run very close to the frame so if you go with a 530 conversion you get a little extra room to spare since the chain is narrower. I got my 530 5/8" 18t from Klasmo in Germany. I think it was $40-something. Kosman ( www.kosman.net ) has a good selection of offsets and tooth ranges.

I can run a 180 tire with a 5/8 offset on my swingarm (530 chain). 190 rubs. Got mine from PMFR. There were MANY issues to resolve in getting the swingarm/sprocket/wheel/shock geometries to all work. In my case, most problems were due to interference issues from the ZX11 rear axle, which is very wide. Vision, persistence, time, and dollars are all useful in these deals.

I used a 1991 ZR 750 Zephyr swingarm with a ZX-11C wheel and brake. The nice thing about the Zephyr swingarm is the shock nounts are already there.
