My question is...what damage has it likely done? Whats beneath the hub and has it probably been damaged?
Can it be easliy repaired? The hub and mudguard arm or can I ake the arms off and just leave the mudguard. Do you guys across in the States call it a mudguard or refer to it as a fender?

From the looks of it.. I would take the wheel off, remove the hub cover, and look inside. It really doesn't look too bad. All that should be in there is your bearings PRESSED inside. The cover should just stop rain and mud from getting to it ( if I remember correct ).
Check on eBay or on here for a new/used cover if you can't straighten it. And I agree with fixing that mudgaurd ASAP !!!
