I wouldn't put a 140 on a '75 400. Of course, I've never tried, I just don't think it looks like there's room in there. Lots of chain-rubbing...is that the same for a '75 kz400?

...But I read an article in an old cyle mag that did a test on putting a size larger than stock on a bike rim .They found that the oversized tire did not handle as well as the intended size...
that would not surprise me. the more i modify my cars and bikes, the more respect i have for factory engineers. (but i still modify them anyway :lol: )

And, of course, you may have another issue: the larger tire interfering with your swingarm. On my '78 KZ1000, I run a 130 X 18" Bridgestone SE11 rear tire on a DID 3.00 X 18" rim and there is very little clearance between this tire and the engine-side of the stock swingarm, so much so that if I don't have the rear wheel properly centered, the tire will rub against the swingarm.
