i also was looking for tire and when i asked for advice at the local bike shop. the owner told me that old bikes handle better with bias tires. he said that raidials follow the inconsistanceis in the road more and this makes the old frames shimmey or torque because the frames arnt stiff enough. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

usually the problem is the narrow rims dont work good with radial tires.

The rule of thumb with tires is that you get what you pay for...
I spent the extra money for a set of Dunlop GT 501's on my KZ 700 and the grip is awesome along with a very smooth ride with no worries over rain grooves or road imperfections.
After a short 50 mile run in and with the confidence of a V rating I took the bike to 125 mph without any signs of shake or wobble.
Tires I'd recommend would be of course the GT 501's (which are also V rated)or Avon super venoms (better traction but wear out faster), they both have excellent traction and won't scare the pants off you in the corners.

I agree with Wicked_KZ, Purchased some Dunlog GT501 front and rear and I am very happy with there performance. Using them on a 78 KZ650 SR.

I have the Chengshin Hi-Max on my bike. Cheap tires for sure. They seem to be good tires, BUT I don't have ANY curves in Oklahoma to push them on, and I don't ride in the rain so....but they work good for me.

I have the Bridgestone Raised White letters on mine. I have about 2000 miles on them now. Good tire great wearing and I don't have a chicken strips on them. They wear as good on the edges as well as the centers. I switched from a no longer manufactured Goodyear Eagle GT II's. I thought the Goodyears were an excellent tire. I wish I could have stocked up on them. I still have a set on my 80 GS1000s Wes Cooley replica.
