thats pretty slick,i like it;)You bet! Start with a handfull of pennies and stick them one by one between the coils until the spring is long enough to put on the pegs. Then put the kickstand down and the pennies should fall out.

This just doesn't seem possible to me. Can you post pictures of it re-connected and of it hanging loose? Maybe we can see what's amiss...Pennys worked but the spring would not hold the stand up and kind of just hung there until the spring fell off again. I think the spring might be bent?? I do not have a center stand on the bike so this is getting frustrating. Thank you for the suggestions!!

Yeah.In that case, I would say that you need a new spring.
It's weird how the top of it is not rusty, and that part also looks a bit contorted.
Also, maybe it's just the wrong spring for the bike?
