I am still wondering whether anyone has an opinion as to whether a 530 chain setup will be quieter than a 630? (I have a past history of shaft drive bikes)

It would be quieter, but good lube on a clean chain is very quiet anyway, in my experience, it is masked completely by exhaust and engine noise.

Did a 530 conversion on my Z1R and I can tell you just the difference in weight between the 2 chains is unbeleiveable. The smaller chain puts less load on the transmission thus smoother operation and easier shifting. Get with Jeff at Z1 Enterprises and he will give the hot set up. Ride safe...........

I can tell you that I went this way and it was an easy swap and I got away from the heavier chain.
As already mentioned get w/Jeff at Z1Enterprises Conversion Link and he can give you the low down.
I went with...
17T-front sprocket, 38T-rear sprocket, 110 link ‘X’Ring chain(split link connector) w/stock tires and I’m getting the following (give or take 1or2 mph)….
1st-24mph=4000rpm
2nd-35mph=4000rpm
3rd-45mph=4000rpm
4th-54mph=4000rpm
5th-62mph=4000rpm
Oh, yea in the KzR file base there is a conversion chart.

I too did this conversion easy is all I have to say. It is supposed to be putting more power to the ground because of the smaller chain, chains are cheaper and there is a bigger variety of chains. Go through Jeff at Z1 great person to deal with and can answer all of question, he has answered mine many many times. So much that when I call he's probably like oh man it's Mike again. haha:)
