Mine's full almost full right. Turn the key, push in on it, wiggle the bars a little to find the slot in the stem then turn it back and pull it out.

on my 80 ltd i didnt like the big ol nasty steering lock so i removed the whole assembly from the side of steering head and welded up the hole.now i have to remember to weld a stop on bottem of steering head so i can use an older style lower tree with a lock. :whistle:

On the 77 1000,the steering lock isn't on the ignition,but on the steering neck.I wish it WAS on the ignition,so it would be easier to access...for lazy buggers like Me!;)

i had to shoot some lube in my 79 ltd and work it a bit and now it works lke a charm
