Hi Clay,
welcome to KZR. Where abouts are you? The VIN and month/year of manufacture is stamped and or printed on the frame way up front between the trees and behind all the wires, cables, etc crammed in behind the headlight. I had the same confusion myself, but the yr of manufacture and the model year can be different- just like you could buy a 2007 model car pretty soon.
Steell, you want to jump in here and straighten this out?

if the frame number and title match i wouldnt worry about it.post picture of bike and frame side view so we can atleast narrow it down between kz and ltd frame if its a 1000.

Hey CLAYBURTON! Your friend is indeed correct...the VIN on your title (it should be the frame number) says it is a 1977 year model. Check
www.zedder.com
for info on your bike. There are clerical errors that result in these sorts of things...just so long as the title matches the bike (like wireman says), all should be fine. Your VIN actually has information buried in it (like auto VIN's). The KZTOOB-502133 dissected means 'B' = LTD model, leading '5' = 'assembled in Lincoln, Nebraska', '2133' = 'the 2133'rd frame assembled'
