To Re-Balance or Not to Re-balance...

Take it for a ride and see if it needs balancing.
If your rear shocks are shot, you may not notice

I had both of my new tires balanced after I installed them. The rear one didn't require any weights, but the front one needed 1.75oz. The guy that balanced them only charged me $10. Small price to pay to make sure they are right.

I change my own tires and I have never balanced one. I never noticed any problems with wear or handling, but I am a pretty mild driver. I suspect if you spent much time above 80 it would become more of a concern.

I've changed many tires and raced with them and never had a problem. I have used brand tires though...Metzler, Goodyear, etc. Don't know how good other tire brands are, but I know Continental never needed balancing either. I've ran up to 130 mph without a shake or wobble...and I didn't fall down!

Mostly a personal preference thing if you use brand name tires. The seller of the tire though only stands behind it though if it was balanced most times.

Try riding it and see what you think. Most old bikes suspensions are worn and you don't notice it if it is out of balance just a little bit. Then again if you drop it from coming into a twisty bit too hot, your going to wonder if that made the tire break stiction with the pavement... naw, it was the grit!

Rebalance!!!! It's cheap, the wheel's off the bike, and it'll do you no harm.
