but I'm sure you know that all it takes is one individual part of the assembly to be changed (the dust boot or brake rod for instance), and the assembly part number also changes.
That being said, the part# for the '78 KZ650C2 rear m/s is 43015-1005.
And going by the cross-reference software, it only fits the following models:
'78 KZ650C2
'79 KZ650C3
'78 KZ650 D1/D1A (SR)
'79 KZ650 D2 (SR)
It would also help to know which '78 KZ1000 you have...
A2 = part# 43015-1016
A2A = part# 43015-1047
B2 (LTD) = part# 43015-033
C1/C1A (Police) = part# 43015-033
D1 (Z1R) = part# 43015-1013.
All numbers listed are what I currently have, and may have been superceded since this cross-reference software was created.
That doesn't mean that one, or all can't be made to fit though.

i have a 78 kz650c2. i am only interested if the housing is the same? thanks.
By the housing, are you refering to the main body of the master cylinder (reservoir) that holds the fluid?
If so, Kawi doesn't offer the housings seperately, so it's hard to say if they're the same or not.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
