case guards was created by BSKZ650
just got a set of case guards for the kz1000, no hardware, but thats ok, anybody know were I can get the extra long bolts I need or maybe how much longer they need to be, looks like a 1/4 inch mounting , so I would guess a 1/2 inch longer would work, but just checking
Thanks
Thanks

I used a piece of 7/16" all thread which I bought in Baker, Oregon while on a three day ride after the stock bolt gave up the ghost. It's held up for fifteen years, must be OK.

When I put case guards on the 650 I could not find the right dia/length bolt combination in metric. I wound up using SAE, I think 3/8" ?? It was a hair smaller diameter but it had the right length. It sounds like the 1000 mounts are different if you can use all-thread.

I took the advice, went to a nut and bolt shop, bought a 7/16 SS allthread, SS nylock nuts and washers, had to ream out one of the brackets a bit to make it fit. Only needed 13 1/2 inches to make the new bolt

im going to be making up some longer front motor mount bolts i can lengthen those long bolts that goe through the two front frame tubes they are a lot stronger than all-thread,you wont be able to tell they were lengthened but you will need to have them replated.anyone interested?you supply the origional bolt and pay for shipping.
