If it is a 'C' frame number then it is a 'C' model. Motors (for the B and C models) didn't apparently differentiate with model specific numbers. The info on this site for the 1977 C model is in error with respect to VIN info, they are reversed. There is apparently no info on the 650 series on zedder.com!

My '77 650 Custom is the exact same as yours with different year and engine serial # series. Perhaps Kawasaki pulled the engines from the production line early to pop into the later frames? Just a thought.

If it has wire wheels, single disc front brake with the caliper in front of the fork and a rear drum brake it´s a B1 - if it has mag wheels, twin disc front brake and rear disc it´s a C1, provided it really is a 77.
B1 and C1 use the same engine which differs from all other 650 models in that it uses a different charging system, B1 and C1 use excited field alternators, the rest use a permanent magnet setup. If you look at the alternator cover (right in front of the gear shift lever)and there are three bolt heads visible in the center of the cover you have the excited field type (making it a 77), the three bolts hold the field coil.
