Offset sprockets- since I can't get the search function to work for me!

Can anyone post a link of where to find offset sprockets so I can run a 180 tire on my Z1 900? I have GS 1100 E swing arm- I am still looking for parts to mock this up- and I would like to actually have an offset sprocket or three on stock way up here!

its 2 in the morning here its either too early,or too late for my brain to concentrate on a tape measure right now!haha but when i get done working today ill do some checking for you!isnt a 180 going to put your chain awfully close to the frame?my old 1428 bike has a double roller sprocket built into the swingarm to clear the frame it comes from a nonoffset sprocket on the motor to one side of the double sprocket built into the swingarm the other side of the sprocket offsets it to the wheel that was done to avoid chain/frame clearance problems and we thought it would put less stress on the output shaft on the motor .

If you need rear sprockets check here. This is where I got mine. They had to custom make one for me. All I had to do was send in the old sprocket off the FZR wheel and tell them how many teeth I wanted and what chain I was using. 1 week later and only like $40 I had my new sprocket and it fit perfect.

You need to first state the width of the rim you plan on running. You need this measuremnet to figure out the offset of the front sproket otherwise you are just guessing.

You can get a pretty good measurment by lining up the chain. Put the new wheel and rear sprocket on. Run the chain as straight as you can. It helps to have someone help with this. One person hold the chain and the other take a few measurments to make sure it is straight. This also helps to make sure that after adding the new front sprocket that the chain will not rub against anything. I had to clearence my frame a little to clear the chain. My swingarm is wider than a GS swingarm so I don't think you sould have any trouble. You might think about doing a chain conversion while you are at it. Going to a 520 chain saves weight and will actually get more HP to the wheel since the motor is having to work less hard to move the chain. 520 are also less expensive since they are more common now on bikes. If that is something you want to do then now is the time to do it before you spend $80 on a front sprocket only to find out later that you want a lighter and stronger chain.

i got mine from mre, they told me generally you need a 3/8 offset for a 5.5 inch rim, 5/8 for a 6inch rim, but its better to measure anyway

kosman in north ca make a bunch of different sizes(teeth,offset etc)i used a 3/8 offset on a gsxr 750 rear end, worked perfect, they make an outrigger bearing with support plate(costly)to support the extra load on the out put shaft,would deffinatly reccomend this option

Hey Ram, try www.americanclassix.com/streetfighter_conversions.html I just noticed that they now carry the offset sprockets and spacers for the rear sprockets that I had only seen from Klasmo in Germany before. I think they sell the front sprockets that don't require an outboard bearing support, but some believe it's needed no matter what. It's something to take a look at anyway.
