Progressive series 12 on a KZ1000 LTD? was created by farmer fred
Hi,
I was wondering if Progressive series 12 shocks will fit on a 78 KZ1000 LTD without fouling the chainguard or the rear caliper bracket? Series 12 shocks are larger in diameter than the stockers.
Also, does anyone know if Progressive makes a 13.5" series 14 shock?
Thanks!

I don't personally know if the shocks will fit, but the progressive catalogue lists the 13.5" series 12 shock as the appropriate shock for the KZ1000B models. Progressive also appears to lists only 12.5" and 13" for the series 14 shock.

Thanks. It doesn't look like anyone's done the swap either.

Hey there Farmer Fred, don't give up so quick. I have an 82 LTD 1000 and have two sets of 12.5" shocks for the bike.
One set is has heavy-duty springs on it and the other set has standard-weight springs on it. They appear to be nearly new and came with the bike when I bought it from the PO. I am currently riding it with the heavier springs as I weigh around 240lbs.
I would like to get a set of 13.5" shocks for the extra inch of heigt in the rear. I am enjoying the bike now as a low-rider type of machine - it's a blast to ride and handles very well.

Both of my sets are Progressive shocks, one set is the Series 14 with a black spring. The other set has a chrome spring and does not have the large dust cover on the top.
