minor gas cap prob was created by riverroad
Why does my gas cap pop up when I hammer it through the gears?
Not that bigga deal, but getting my chest and face coated with gas kinda makes me smell funny. Chicks don't seem to appreciate my Eau De Petrol cologne. And the last thing I need is for some dweeb to flip a cigarette butt out on me. Just don't wanna be labeled a flying flamer. :pinch:
I looked at the latch and the little bar that it latches to, and that little bar is bent a little. Is it supposed to be bent like that, or is that why it's popping open?

Maybe you can take the little bar out and hammer it straight. Having a striaght bar is better than being a flamer anyday.

Thanks Don. I haven't looked that close at it, but it appears to be peened into its bracket. I tried to straighten it by prying on it with a screw driver, but it just spun around.
If I don't get it straightend out right away, I'll just wait till I get ready to repaint the tank, and mig in a piece of welding rod or something.

Not a dumb question at all, but I do have a dumb answer.
No, I usually pop it down with my palm.
Probably why it's bent in the first place, huh?:pinch:

may i see a vid of you using a blow torch on a recently full gas tank? Please?
I would not recomend flame unless you take some serious time to clear the vapor out of that tank...but its your body.

try a smaller pair of vise grips, grab the pin and hit upwards with a hammer on the vise grips, it way bend it upward
