Should be in miles if your speedo is in miles.

In Denver the air is thinner so it doesn't SEEM like its 63 miles?
No really. Mine reads in miles and tenths of miles..Does your speedo look like mine? I just HAD to walk up to the garage and look.

yeah mine looks just like yours. sos you are saying that it reads in tenths of a mile? Cause I would be passing like 2 buildings and it has changed the number already and I know that couldnt be a mile.

See mine?..it reads 44 and 0 TENTHS miles as that is when I last got fuel. The last digit is in tenths ..like a car. Well now cars are digital/electronic but they USED to be! Back in the good old days!

Have you changed your front wheel diameter or speedo hub? If either is different than the original speedometer it might have an effect on your readings.

if you can find a small enough screw extractor, you could likely do it..

or you can maybe open it up and try to remove it from the inside.
