Running lights? was created by IowaKZ
I have a 1980 kz1000G. Is this bike supposed to have running lights on the rear signals?

I know that the front turn signals are also running lights, but are the rear also?

I am guessing not since the wiring diagram doesn't show any like it does on the front.

Thanks.:)

This is a common question... The answer is no.
Front running lights (1157), rear turn only (1156).

You could get a set of front, 3 wire signals and put them on the back. Then run the third wire from the front to the back, and you have running lights at all four corners. I did that a number of years back.

I think I remember some saying it was not legal in their area, so best to check it out first. You may be able to get by with red lens covers.

I used the stock amber ones for 10 years in Toronto, and never had a ticket. Sure was quite a bit brighter at night too.

If you install the two wire set-up in the rear you can become legal if you use red lenses in the rear lights. That way you have only red lights showing in the rear. I think you can get red lenses from some aftermarket sources.

Also, you might need to up the size of your fuse to allow for the increased current.
