Blowing main fuse when ignition on was created by XL777
I have a 1978 KZ1000 and I recently replaced the coils with a dynatek DC1-1 3ohm coils, 8mm wires, and replaced the the ignition with a Dyna S system. I have wired everything in and now when I turn on the ignition it blows the main fuse. Anyone out there with that issue?

It is easier to say what I haven't replaced then what I have.

I must love this cruel mistress since she hates me

Something is shorting to ground (I think).

I had the main fuse blowing on me. Turned out to be one of the wires was exposed a bit on the backside of one the white plugs in the headlight, and was touching the headlight shell.

Your short is probablly somewhere else, or not.:pinch:

Often, the wires going to the coils touch the frame right where they connect to the coil. Also, the wires to the coils could be touching each other to cause a short. Those are the most likely.

Did the fuse blow before you changed the ignition system? If not, the problem is related to something you did. Recheck all the connections you made to make sure that you haven't inadvertently created a short. The fuse is there to protect the wiring, so do not bypass it or use a fuse rated higher than manufacturer's spec.

check that your 12V wire to the coils isn't too close to the frame and grounding out.

I just did the same upgrade and had that problem as well. Look to the wires that you attached to the coil( the pink/red black and green.) When putting the metal eyelets supplied with the coils, I tightened them and they spun until they rested against the coil mounts which will in turn ground to the frame once you put the coils back and tighten them down. I found it out because while they dangled, no prob, once I mounted them they would blow the main. I dont know how many burned out fuses ended up on my garage floor till I found it.
