Ignition wires rubbing - use electrical tape?

My new ignition wires are rubbing the somewhat sharp edge of my GPz tank. It's fine for a while but I think it will eventually cut it a little.

Would you just wrap the ignition wire with some black electrical tape? Seems pretty basic and I don't see a problem with it.

I needed wires right away because my old ones pulled apart when I was changing my plugs.

The MSD 8.5 wires I have now were made at local auto go fast shop and have straight boots that can be bent 45 degrees. I have them bent/positioned as well as possible but it still rubs a little. Since they're brand new and work fine I'd rather just do a workaround.

You might be able to reposition the wires just a little with wire clamps. They fit under the head of the cam cover bolts, and will hold your wires in place. Also good, because they'll keep the wires from crossing under the tank. Crossed ignition wires might hurt your performance.
My clamps are stock, but I think any hardware store would have something similar. They're metal with a rubber lining to prevent chafing.

Instead of tape I would use small pieces of split fuel hose over the wires. It should wear MUCH longer than tape.

That's a beautiful, leak-free gasket!
