How do the wires come out of the stock coils on a kz 900? They look like they are glued in, i dont wanna mess anything up. I bought some colored wires and dont wanna fubar anything.

You are correct, the wires on the older KZ's are molded into the coils themselves.
I've heard of folks who have "shaved" off the area where the wires enter the coils to access the studs to attach the wires to, and then reseal them when done.
But it would be easier to just purchase wire splicers ( NGK Plug Wire Splicers) to attach them.

So the coils on your bike are almost 30 years old, how long do you expect them to last?
Accel or Dyna coils can be purchased for $120-$140, and it's well worth replacing the antique worn out coils that are on there now.
It's well known that I am a cheapskate, and even I think it's worthwhile to do
I have not read a post yet where someone said that new coils did not improve the way their bike runs

Did you use the resistor ends that go on the plug or just regular boots?? My resistor boots are cracked and worn out I was wondering if the regular boots made any difference.

i used BERU #ck4 white ceramic 0-ohm boots at the plug with accel spiral core 8mm wires and the long boots that came with them at the coils. spark is nice and blue at the plug. i have never measured the resistance on the wires. the Beru's look vintage and ive had many comments on them. i like them way better than the factory black stuff.
