Can anyone tell me where I should start looking, I bought a 82 KZ 750 CSR Twin and the starter doesn't work and I don't know how to start figuring it out.

Could you describe the symptom? I ask this because people often confuse the starter clutch problems with a starter problem. These bikes are prone to starter clutch failure....Can anyone tell me where I should start looking, I bought a 82 KZ 750 CSR Twin and the starter doesn't work and I don't know how to start figuring it out.

ok, so I get all electrical when I turn the key on and am able to kick start the bike no problem. I do not know if the kill switch works, forgot to try it before I sent the gas tank to get painted. will be able to tell monday when I get the tank back.

You do know that there is a clutch safety switch so you have to hold the clutch in for the electric starter to work?
Otherwise it's somewhere between the starter button and the solonoid, or the starter is bad.
First thing to do is pull off the sidecover and short across the two large terminals on the solonoid with a screwdriver and see if it cranks
