Replacing fuse box with blade fuses. COMPLETED!

I am thinking of replacing my usual tube fuse box by installing 3 blade fuses. It seems like I can never find those tube fuses anymore. During my last electrical adventure I went to 5 auto parts stores before I finaaly found the sizes I needed. With the blade fuses I could just walk right into a Walmart. I mean what the heck, blade fuses are used on cars. Any opinions?

I'll post some pics of it when I am done...if some of you think it is cool to try this.:whistle:

how about circuit breakers,then you could just reset them. thats what im gonna use on my curent projects.

Sounds like a great idea. Do you have a certain style in mind, how much space would they require and the availability.

ive seen them on a lot of streetrods theyre really compact,im gonna check speedway motors in lincoln,and radio shack.

Circuit breakers is an awesome idea! I'll start searching too. I'll need two 10's and one 20. Do we want automatic reset or manual?

Looks like a blade fuse installation could be a bit smaller. Having replaced some of the ancient wires and old style fuses, and adding a relay has caused the electrics on my KZ900 to be trouble and "heat" free, so whether you go with blade fuses or breakers you should spend some time inspecting and replacing some of the more suspect old wires and cleaning switches as well.

Since I've not had to replace any of the blade fuses I don't see a big advantage to breakers.

I recently have aquired some electrical gremlins and have begun to do some much needed rewiring. I was looking around and came across this site and am thinking this might be the perfect time to upgrape my fuse panel also. These look like the perfect thing to use as a replacement. Reasonable price also.

I had the stock fuse box on my KZ900 melt on me during a ride a few years ago. I did the blade fuse swap. I found a fuse holder at Pep Boys for $15 and picked up some fuses at work for free. It was the best mod I have done to the bike yet. It holds 5 fuses and tucks in were the stock box mounted. I put the 3 stock circuits in the upper 3 fuse locations and have 2 left for extra lights or whatever. I agree with the suggestion about checking the wires. With age and heat, the wires will become hard and brittle and will break at the most inconveneint time/location. It is an easy swap, I also did the same mod on my Yam triple. Ride safe.....John

Okay Dudes, I completed my fuse box overhaul. Went to Autozone Parts Store and for less then $14 bought a 4 slot blade fuse box, packet of 10amp fuses, and a 12volt 20amp automatic reset circuit breaker.

Snipped off the old and replaced with new connectors. I chose to roll with a 12v 20amp circuit breaker for the main which plugs right into the fuse box. Here is some pics. Mounted it in the exact location where the old fuse box was. I have one more slot for future use.
