turn signal switch button question was created by wminmi
alrighty, i have a '81 KZ750 LTD

My question is: is the turn signal switch have to be held in place to turn the turn signal on?

I noticed it right off, that when turning the t-signal doesn't stay on if i release my thumb from the switch.....just wondering if this is normal?

No, it should stay on, so that when you are wearing a full faced helmet and don't notice the indicators between the gauges, you can drive for miles with your turn signal blinking away, just like Grandpa does!

My "new" bike has self cancelling signals, wonderful idea.

No, its not normal. Probably just worn out inside the switch, seems like there should be detents to hold it on L or R. I'd take it apart, and then when you can't find all the little pieces that fell out, look for one on eBay.

Sounded to me like Nevco gave his suggestion as to what could be wrong, and an option on where to get a new switch. Seems like a pretty decent response to me.
Head on out to Wal-mart and pick yourself up a sense of humor. You will need one if you continue to post here.
Lighten up a little, and you are more likely to get the help that you are requesting.

Hey, Wminmi, don't take our attempts at humor wrong; I was making fun of myself about leaving the signals on...

Same with the bit about losing all the little pieces from inside the switch; been there, done that.

Like Draco said, if you read close, there actually is some advice in my replies.

i evidentially took the reply wrong.....wouldn't be the 1st time!

Anywhos, i know about the switches where you turn them on and can let go and they stay on. Then once the turn is completed you just push the switch and they go off. I was thinking maybe this switch was like this, but wanted to make sure.

Again, sorry for sounding rude....been a severely hectic/long 2 weeks already :S
