Hi, new here. Hope someone can help with a couple of questions.
I just put a dyna on my '78 kz650c and was wondering about the stock coils I left on; do I have to replace them as well? And what of this "WG Coils wire mod"
Also, my bike Seems to run stronger with the timing advanced, could this be a result of the kerker 4-1 exhaust on there?
My other ? is: Where can I find an oil pressure sending unit, and gauge for my bike?
The bike runs strong, but ther's a slippage prob with initial "roll-on" when taking off in first gear.
And I have properly adjusted according to manual specs.
(prolly need new clutch plates)
"78 KZ650C kerker 4-1 pipe, dyna-s, 87 octane gas, castrol syntec 5w30 oil, NGK B8ES plugs,
Everything else is stock (as far as I know, I just got this bike)
Thanks!!
(update) OIC, the coils mod runs power from batt....interesting.
But I'm in the dark about this bike and its likes and dislikes. One thing I noticed though: Putting that dyna on there made a HUGE difference in power, and cold starting!!

You don't have to put coils on your stock ones will work. That said it is a good upgrade to replace the coils and and wires.
I wouldn't advance the timing just set it correctly and leave it be. If you have a 4-1 and the bike has not been rejeted it is likely that you need to do that.

That will walk you through the process.
The coil mod you speak of is unnecessary if your harness is in OK shape.
Your right that the slipping is more then likely your clutch. The good news is that its an easy fix and with a manual you should be able to get it in no time.

And what of the oil gauge?
Can I fit one into the existing sending unit socket?
If so what brand/model is compatible?
My buddy (a car guru) says that any gauge/sending unit will work because they come with adapters.
I'm one of those guys that likes to get bad news before the red "dummy" lamp comes on

Ahhhh, that would explain the occasional backfire and hissing/puffing noiseI wouldn't advance the timing just set it correctly and leave it be. If you have a 4-1 and the bike has not been rejeted it is likely that you need to do that.
