Need help with front brake switch was created by DinoC
Hello. I have a 1979 kz1000st. Im trying to find a front brake switch(old one fell apart). I called z1 enterprises and they sent this email......
Mike,
kawasaki has discontinued the front brake switch. The OEM part #is 27010-1028. You might check Ebay and the kawasaki forums.
kzrider.com and dragbike.com are generally good sources of parts and information.
You can also cross reference the the part# on kawasaki.com to see if it was used on other models to expand your search.
If I can be further assistance contact me. Thank you for your inquiry and choosing Z1 Enterprises.
Any help would be great....

Check with the dealer to verify that 27010-1028 is the correct part number. If it is, plug it into the part number search at this site:
www.pro-am.ca/kawasaki.php?content=part
It looks like they have one in stock. Ed

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I looked it up and it's used on a lot of different Kawasaki models including KZ440, 550, 670, 750 and a lot of KZ1000s including the J model and the police bikes all the way to the late 80s. They can't have possibly discontinued this part. (Well maybe), but there should be a lot of them out there.

being a simple pressure switch just about any switch with the same threads and connectors should work.

Or You could get a different brake lever...one that has the switch right ON the lever.(a micro-switch).
My front brake set-up is from a CB650 and when I first installed it,I used the factory KZ pressure switch, but it wouldn't activate the brakelight until You really give it a squeeze...so I wired up the micro-switch and now it activates when You feather the front brake...much better!
