Sidestand switch, where connect? was created by Wilde
Hello,
I have a slight annoyance with my bike which is that the sidestand switch is not physically connected to the sidestand and I cannot see where it should go? The switch functions electrically I just do not understand where to connect the spring on the switch to the sidestand. Since the swith works it is just annoying that I cannot use it...

My bikes do not have a sidestand switch, and they are nearly identical to yours. I do not see one on the wiring diagram either. Maybe you should post up a picture of the switch you are talking about.

I would also be interested in seeing a picture. No sidestand switch on my bike either.

Yeah, I think we're gonna need some pictures. Because I have the same model in the works, I did look up in the KHI manual and the Haynes (no Clymer's)and saw no reference to such a switch. I even studied the wiring diagram, to the best of my ability, and saw nothing. Wonder if it's a mod the PO did?
My BMW releases the stand if you stand the bike up and pull in the clutch, but it doesn't seem like that's what you're talking about.

Went back and looked through the book again and the first model the stand warning switch appears on is the '82 Z750R1. It wasn't in the table of contents nor in the glossary, so I guess it's not that important.

Here comes the picture, You can see the tube between the footrest and the sidestand, inside is a switch looking exactly like a brake pedal switch. It also seems not to warn but to shut of ignition, like the kill button.

Just guessing --
Perhaps a modification intended to momentarily kill the ignition when shifting, so as to facilitate clutchless WOT shifts.

What you've got is a sidestand switch wired in by a previous owner. If it looks like the foot-brake switch then it just needs a spring connected from the switch to the kickstand as close to the stand's hinge-pin as possible. You would want to connect it in such a way that it pulls on the switch's spring just enough to engage it but not so much that it deforms the spring.
Personally I would redo the wiring so that the switch just triggers a light on your dash rather than cut out the ignition. As someone who is presently dealing with a large number of demons in my bike's electrical system, the less complicated the system is the happier you will be.

Yeah, I have daemons also, that is the reason I started looking at this switch I will remove it, never felt a need for it. Another daemon is in the ignition lock, which looks not original, only six wires out, should be seven...
