On my newest project (KZ1000-M2), I just discovered that there is a fuel level switch in my fuel tank. But I don't see the gauge anywhere. I assume it is missing from my bike. Where is it supposed to be?

On my 1981 it is located in the lower part of the tachometer. I am surprised that mine is very accurate and I can always predict exactly how much gas I need to fill up.

Duh! Thank you!

I was looking for a gauge, not a light. After reading your reply, I went and looked. Sure enough, there is the fuel light. Didn't notice it before.

They must have changed over from a gauge to light from '81 to '82 then.

My 81 LTD1000 has a fuel guage on it. I guess they decided to do that to the CSR's after they did it on the LTD's.

On my '82 it's a light on the tach, not a gauge, just as you described -- so I figure that's stock.

So...when does the light come on? About the same time you need to switch to reserve? Later?

My 78 650 has a low fuel light, it comes on before having to switch to reserve. Actually I've never had to switch to reserve. There seems to be about 5 litres lrft in the tank when it lights up.
