Speedo freezes and wont return to 0.

I recently purchased a guage cluster from ebay.It looks great tach works ok but the speedo when i ride and slow down it stops at the high speed and does not return to 0.
Any suggestions on cleaning?I opened the back up and blew out the cob webs.But still does same thing.
Any help would be great.

How bad was the cob webs? For real question, those little buggers can really build some nests in there!

they were pretty bad.I blew it out best i could with compressed air.Is there a lube you can use for gauges?Internal?

Pretty sure the gauge you have isn't the one with the easy to remove housing. Any more work on the gauge and you'll have to open it all the way. Can be a PITA to do and then get it back together where it will look reasonably like it did before you took it apart. Don't just try spraying WD40 or something in there or it will end up on the lens for sure.

open it up. use a coffee can as your jig to hold it...steve

Hello,Before opening it try putting baby oil(used this not to hurt any plastics in there)into the drive where the cable goes n rotate it a couple dozen times. it work on my sluggish speedo n noisy tach.If it doesn't work opening it would be the option.
