well i found out why my 77kz1000 aint charging...the previous owner put a later model magnet on without a key so now its not spinning... does anyone know where to get the correct part... also i was told it cost about $800 please tell me thats not true...thanx

The crank isn't affected... just buy a magnet and stator off eBay. I would use a new grommet and new wires coming off the windings and reuse the old blue connector but it ain't a big deal. I had to buy a magnet/stator for one of my bikes a year or two ago and it was cheap... the magnets hardly ever go bad. You have to heat them with a torch or bang them with a hammer for them to lose their magnetism I think. Where the $800 came from isn't clear. I bought the magnet/stator off eBay and associated parts and the key came with them.
