Anyone have a bare bones wiring diagram for something similar to a 1978kz650B diagram? I found a few good ones that have the separate reg/rec and can probably figure it out from there since I have the combined, but if anyone has one already that would be totally awesome.
No turn signals, no gauges, just ignition and brake light and horn and starter.

Rock on.

I think I have one somewhere. It'll take me some time to locate it (I'm not at home right now).

Like you said, it's pretty simple. What about Headlight?

Not really "barebones", but this should do it.

Excellent, just what I needed!

I toyed with the idea of eliminating the starter and just using the kickstart, as well as nixing the lights until later when I get the ignition/charging system wired how I like. It might be bare bones until I decide to put the lights on so I can be street legal, and I can figure it all out from this diagram you so graciously provided.

Thanks again!

Could you tell me if this diagram will work on a '99 KZP. I have been searching for two days and still haven't found a diagram. BTW the bike is being chopped.

99 KZP will probably have electronic ignition and probably a different alternator. I don't have a diagramfor a 99 KZP.

I am really not electrical savvy but I have a 79' 650 that has the seperate Reg and Rec. Does anyone have the above diagram showing those items wired seperately? Should I just modify my bike and use the combined Reg/Rec?

1979 should be the same as 1978.
1977 was the odd-ball year. If you have a seperate reg and rec, you'd have to change the stator, cover, and rotor in order to use a reg/rec from a 78 or later 650.

The 77 alternator is good, but the 77 regulator is what gives the most headaches. you can get a new solid-state reg for a 77 650 at:
www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com

I have a simplified diagram for the 77 650, but I'm not at home so it may take me a day or so to find it. I'm sure it's been posted here somewhere if you do a search.
