strange electrical problem was created by sorner
I washed and waxed my bike yesterday, and apparently water did something in the electrical system. It still runs great and all, the problem is with the turn signals. Since the wash, sometimes the turn signals work, and sometimes they don't. When they do work, they flash really fast, left or right, whichever is selected. I checked all the bulbs on the bike and there are no blown bulbs. Any ideas where to start tracing this problem?

Without disassembling the switch, have you tried spraying inside it with WD40 (or even rubbing alcohol)? Thinking this could displace moisture. Could follow with pure air pressure to further clear internal switch parts. Just allowing the switch to dry out naturally may resolve the problem.

While at it, if under-seat wiring was doused, would apply the same treatment there. Never hurts to clean and apply dielectric grease on all connections.

Then after all that, maybe it's just a bad flasher unit. :P

Good luck with the repair. :)

the flasher controls the speed of the flash via resistance, if water was used, check the flasher unit to see if it may have got some water in it or the connections

I found other posts on here that pointed me in the direction of the flasher unit. I went to Autozone and got one for $2 (mine is a 2 plug type) and plugged it in, and they started working fine. I must have gotten water in the other one and fried it. THanks for the help!!!
