new headlamp kinda weak was created by fallenknight308
I just got a acerbis diamond headlamp
, wired it up, and noticed its on the weak side,
Is there a way I can strengthen the intensity by re-wiring it? Series or parallel?
I'm not even using that third mini-bulb either
I found these two topics, but any more help would be cool too.

# Each bulb is 20W for a total of 60W
# Two 36° flood bulbs in the center; third bulb is a 10° pencil

So I guess I'm running 40w total with the bigger two?

measure the voltage at the headlight connector. if it is less than the voltage you can measure at the battery, the difference between the two (hopefully not very much) is the voltage drop. old connectors can be the cause, like at the fusebox or at relays. Or old wiring can cause it.

40W isn't very much, I think the stock is probably 55? Interesting headlight -- I don't think we're allowed three bulbs for the headlights in my state..

Thanks. I didn't check local laws concerning this light here in CA (probably banned :()
So stock is 55w, its making more sense now. if the voltage is fine, the only way to get brighter is to prolly put different bulbs in there.
If I'm not allowed to use this on street I'll have to chalk this up to $85 lost.

I don't see why you couldn't use that headlight on the street.
The Kawi VN2000 Vulcan has a similar tri-headlight system, and I've seen quite a few of them prowling the roadways here in So Calif.

One of the members of a club I belong to owns an '06 or '07 VN2000.
I saw how INCREDIBLY bright they are just yesterday evening at a club members b-b-q, even on low beam!

It could possibly be an issue since it isn't the OEM headlight for your bike, but I say run it anyway!
I've seen a plethora of worse non-OEM equipment (3-foot tall rear spoilers and bazooka-sized exhaust on the Honda/Acura/Toyota/etc "slot cars" for example ) infractions that rarely garner a single look from the local po-po.

I ran a PIAA Bright White H4 bulb in my 900. It was rated at 85w's for both the low and high beams. Yes it is illegal in CA. but so is speeding and I do that all the time! Run the light. Plead ignorance if you get pulled over however unlikely that will be. I never was,( for the light LOL).
