I was riding along and all of a sudden my bike shut off as if the kill switch was shut off. Now there is no power to anything. Any advice on what to check out would be greatly appreciated. The Idiot lights dont come on either. Is this a short in the kjill switch or did my key switch short out?

Bingo..... Apparently someone previous had trouble with this cause they had replaced 20amp fuse with a 30 amp and had electrical tape around the melted wire. Looks like I got a rewiring job to do this weekend. Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.

My 77 650 just went through a rash of blown main fuses. I believe they were caused mostly by bad connections in my fuse box. I replaced the fuse box with a automotive blade type fuse block I got at Advance Auto. Everything electrical on the bike seems to work better now. I highly recommend it. If your wiring is like mine (and I bet it is), get the 4 fuse block, not the 6 fuse one. The 6 fuse unit has side of all the fuses connected together. With the 4 fuse unit, you can use it with one side of the fuses all connected together, or all isolated.
